CHIEF MARK YOKOYAMA TO BE HONORED BY

NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF ASIAN AMERICAN LAW ENFORCEMENT COMMANDERS AND NATIONAL ASIAN PEACE OFFICERS’ ASSOCIATION


The National Association of Asian American Law Enforcement Commanders (NAAALEC) will honor California Peace Officer’s Association (CPOA) President Chief Mark Yokoyama 5:30-7:30 p.m., Thurs., Jan. 15, 2015 at Old Ranch County Club in Seal Beach.   

“As chief of Alhambra Police Department, Chief Yokoyama has been credited with enhancing community oriented policing and community engagement in a culturally diverse community, particularly through the use of social media,” said Lt. Rudy Tai, president of the National Association of Asian American Law Enforcement Commanders and a member of San Diego Police Department.  Under Yokoyama’s leadership, Alhambra Police Department also has received awards for innovative and contemporary use of technology to improve policing. 

“More significantly, we wanted to recognize Chief Yokoyama for the extent of his public service, dedication within his organization as well as toward the profession,” added Tai.

Additional hosts of the reception include the National Asian Peace Officers’ Association, the Orange County Asian Peace Officers’ Association, the California Asian Peace Officers’ Association, and Sacramento Asian Peace Officers’ Association.    

The National Association of Asian American Law Enforcement Commanders (NAAALEC) is a national non-profit law enforcement leadership organization committed to fostering leadership, fraternal enrichment and advancement.  Members of NAAALEC include Sheriffs, Chiefs of Police, Special Agents in Charge and other executives in law enforcement who have attained a high level of success within their respective agencies through their hard work, perseverance and dedication. As a result these same members have become role models for aspiring officers of Asian Pacific American descent.
